Industrial Biotechnology

We create synthetic promoters optimised to drive more efficient expression in specific chassis organisms at industrial scale.

Background

Synthetic biology is broadly used by industrial biotech companies to facilitate metabolic pathway engineering in chassis organisms, by expressing enzymes that mediate the synthesis of fine chemicals or pharmaceuticals in biological systems through a specific synthesis pathway.

Why Synthetic Promoters

Effective metabolic engineering requires a broad toolset of promoters to regulate the expression of the multiple enzymes required to create the synthesis pathway in chassis organisms. There is a paucity of promoters that can be used to express several different enzymes in a single cell. Also, standard promoters are not regulatable, and expression is uncontrollable, meaning that the correct expression levels must be achieved empirically by screening many thousands of clones.

Our Solution

ChromatinBio design strong synthetic promoters that are customised to the chassis organism. By analysing the genome of the chassis, we can create synthetic promoters optimised to mediate high levels or regulatable expression in the bioreactor. We can also create a collection of promoters that mediate different levels of expression to create the genetic circuitry required for effective metabolic engineering and express multiple enzymes at the correct levels for optimal functioning of the synthesis pathway.
